I am Te ipu ata Mataaho. I am the food bowl of Mataaho. Mataaho is the God of volcanoes. In the olden days Ngati Whatua would show respect by leaving food, precious jewels and cloth as well because if Mataaho gets angry the volcanoes will erupt again. Nowadays people still respect me by not walking or playing in me. Today you can still visit me if you go to Maungawhau and you will see me. In the future I predict that people will keep on respecting me by not walking or playing in me but first they need to learn my story by reading this and passing on the story from generation to generation.
